Vital de Rego, the Vice-President of the Court of Accounts of the Federal Republic of Brazil, remarked in his speech that today, the audit institutions have the ability to collaborate on the mitigation of climate change, specifically evaluating the measures taken by the governments of the countries, thereby providing a foundation for further research.
The representative of Brazil also stated the importance of the cooperation in the field of AI, saying that chat with a virtual assistant is used in Brazil by the auditors to analyze documents and translations. They also use other analysis systems using computer algorithms.
During the meeting, the heads of the supreme audit institutions of the BRICS countries have also discussed the fight against corruption and further cooperation.
“A separate section of the Ufa Declaration is devoted to the fight against corruption. This is a paramount topic for every country, since corruption either increases budget expenditures or reduces revenue,” Boris Kovalchuk noted. “Today we agreed that in the next two years every country will audit the Sustainable Development Goals, and we will make a joint report, combining it into a single document. It will be presented at our next meeting for a comprehensive discussion.”
